What you’ll need to use Stage Manager on macOS

To use Stage Manager, your Mac must be running macOS Ventura or higher. To update a previous version, click the Apple icon, select About This Mac and then click the button for Software Update. Click the Upgrade Now button to install the update.

Multitasking with Stage Manager on macOS Ventura

Method one: Turn on Stage Manager first

You can turn on Stage Manager either before or after opening multiple apps. To enable it beforehand, click the Control Center icon on the Menu bar and select the control for Stage Manager.

Method two: Open multiple apps first

If you’ve already opened several apps and want to arrange them, open the apps first and then click the Stage Manager control from the Control Center.

Method three: Control Stage Manager behaviors

In Stage Manager, you can control certain behaviors such as maximizing the center window, moving the center window to the left, and more. These actions affect the visibility and arrangement of the apps on the screen.

Method four: Group windows in Stage Manager

You have the option to group multiple apps or windows into a single group. By moving an app from the left to overlap the current center window, you can create a group of two windows.

Method five: Tweak Stage Manager settings

You can customize certain settings for Stage Manager by accessing the System Settings and Desktop & Dock options. Here, you can adjust settings such as showing windows from an application all at once or one at a time.
